My Personal Story

I grew up on the east coast of Sri Lanka, in Batticaloa—a place known for its natural beauty, rich culture, deep traditions, and strong community ties. Yet beneath that beauty, my early life was shaped by war, natural disasters, and family struggles. How does someone carry the weight of trauma and still find a way to heal?

Living through these experiences taught me that trauma is not just an event from the past—it can shape daily life in quiet, lasting ways. But over time, I also encountered moments of care, guidance, and support from the people around me. These moments, though sometimes small, helped me begin to understand that healing was possible, even when it felt distant or difficult. It was not a quick or easy process, but it taught me that resilience can grow in the most unexpected ways.

Today, my work is deeply rooted in what I have lived and learned. Healing, for me, is not an abstract idea; it is a real and personal journey. I am committed to offering a space where others can find support, strength, and hope—moving at their own pace, in their own way, toward the life they want to rebuild.

My Professional Background

With over 25 years of experience in both professional and volunteer roles, I have had the privilege of supporting individuals and communities affected by armed conflict, natural disasters, and social challenges. My journey began in Sri Lanka and expanded globally, including training Psychological First Aid workers in Nepal following the 2015 earthquake. These experiences deepened my commitment to helping people find pathways to healing after trauma and continue to shape my approach today.

Since relocating to the UK, I have focused on supporting individuals facing emotional distress, isolation, and major life transitions—particularly during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. I have worked with local communities, immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers, offering care grounded in compassion and respect. Alongside direct support, I have contributed to guest lectures, research projects, and service development, always integrating both professional expertise and lived experience.

Throughout my career, in roles ranging from befriending and counselling to psychosocial support, field research, and consultation, I have witnessed firsthand the resilience people carry, even in the toughest of circumstances. I have also witnessed the gaps and limitations within support systems. This is why I remain committed to strengthening care, fostering resilience, and walking alongside individuals as they navigate their own healing journeys.

Integrating hypnotherapy into my work offers individuals a supportive and gentle way to navigate their struggles. It helps strengthen resilience and fosters healing in a way that honours each person’s unique pace and path. I am here to walk alongside you as you move toward the life you want to rebuild.
